Judge John H. Foradora

Judge John H. Foradora received his B.A. from Juniata College in 1988 and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1991. 

Judge Foradora was appointed to the Court of Judicial Discipline in October 2017. In January of 2002, he joined the bench as president judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Jefferson County.  Prior to his judicial service, he was Professor of Business Law at DuBois Business College from June of 2000 to December 2000. He was a partner at Pontzer & Foradora from 1997 through 2001. From 1996 through 1997, he was a partner at Foradora & Foradora. From 1992 through 1996, he was a litigator at Fernan, Whitney & Masson. He worked as a part-time public defender from 1992-1995 in Jefferson County. In 1991 and 1992 he was a law clerk for the Court of Common Pleas of Elk and Cameron counties.

July 2014 to July 2015 — Vice President of Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges

2014 to 2015 — One of the four judges who served to the Strategic Planning Workshop for the Sentencing Guidelines Commission

July 2012 to July 2014 — Secretary/Treasurer Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges

April 2012 — Lecturer to the Assessor’s Association of Pennsylvania, three-hour CLE regarding legal update on tax assessment cases and procedure

2009 to 2015 — Appointed administrative judge of Judicial Unit Three

(McKean, Elk/Cameron, Jefferson, Warren/Forest, Clarion, Armstrong and Venango counties)

July 1, 2009 — Appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Probation by Governor Edward G. Rendell for a four-year term; reappointed by Governor Corbett in July, 2013

2007 and 2011 — Served on the nominating committee of Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges

2006 to Present — Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, representative on the Legislative Committee

2006 and 2007 — Participant in the Villanova Law School Sentencing Workshop 

2005 to Present — Representative of the President Judge’s section for the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania Courts and Corrections Meeting

2005 to 2015 — Representative of the Executive Committee of Zone Seven

2002 to Present — Organizer and presenter of the Judge’s Panel at the Annual Legal Conference at Clarion University

 

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Jefferson County Big Brothers/Sisters — Helping to organize a chapter for the unity of one community to place children in a safe environment with guidance to make them better adults and dealing with life situations

SMH Bar Review Scholarship — Scholarship awarded to third-year Notre Dame law student interested in public interest law to take bar review class in the state of their choice           

C. Jewett Henry Memorial Award — Scholarship awarded to the top Juniata junior student with an interest in law for their senior year
