The Role of the OCFC

The Office of Children and Families in the Courts (OCFC) was created by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in an effort to create more positive outcomes for foster children. The OCFC's primary goal is to minimize the length of time that dependent children must spend in foster care, or other temporary living situations, when they have been removed from their parents by a court order. The OCFC is dedicated to reuniting families, accelerating adoptions, and enhancing permanent adult connections for children who remain in the foster care system.

The OCFC is part of the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Court’s (AOPC) Judicial Programs Department and receives guidance and direction from the State Roundtable, which is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Max Baer.
