Filtering the Demographics Dashboard

This dashboard displays state and county-level statistics based on the cases that fall into specific Measure Groups. Within this dashboard, there are multiple ways to customize the information displayed by allowing you to apply data filters. Across the top of the screen, several options are available to filter the statistics appearing on the dashboard:

Measure Group

A collection of broad classifications that logically separates dependency statistics by specific characteristics. The data displayed on the dashboard at any given time is solely related to the dependency cases that correspond to the selected Measure Group.

Leadership Roundtable

Selecting one of the Roundtables from this dropdown will update the dashboard to reflect the Measure Group statistics related to the counties in that Roundtable only. The use of this filter automatically limits the available options in the County filter and vice versa.

County

Selecting any Pennsylvania county from this dropdown will update the dashboard to reflect the statistics related to that county within the selected Measure Group. The Roundtable number that is associated to each county is provided for your reference only and does not affect the information shown. The use of this filter automatically limits the available options in the Leadership Roundtable filter and vice versa.

Report Year

The totals reflected in this dashboard correspond to specific calendar year(s). Based on availability of the statistical data, the totals for each year displayed appear by default. Clearing the checkbox for a given year will remove the corresponding statistics from all the metrics displayed.

Include

All Other Counties When this checkbox is selected, it ensures that all statewide data for the selected Measure Group is displayed except for Allegheny and Philadelphia counties.

Allegheny Due to its size and its potential for skewing statewide totals, deselecting this checkbox will exclude Allegheny County statistics from those displayed. This filter should not be used in conjunction with the County filter.

Philadelphia Due to its size and its potential for skewing statewide totals, deselecting this checkbox will exclude Philadelphia County statistics from those displayed. This filter should not be used in conjunction with the County filter.

Case Category

Abuse/Neglect – This checkbox determines whether the data displayed includes cases where there was an allegation of dependency on the grounds of ‘Abuse/Neglect’. This includes cases where the child is abused or neglected by their parents, the parents have abandoned the child, or the child does not have any living parents. This category represents the majority of dependency cases.

Status Offense – This checkbox determines whether the data displayed includes cases where the allegations of dependency related to ‘Status Offense’ grounds. These are instances where the child is habitually truant, incorrigible, or ungovernable.

When both of these checkboxes are selected, all case data falling within the selected Measure Group is displayed regardless of category.
