What are Measure Groups?

 

 

A Measure Group is a broad classification for dependency cases meeting specific characteristics that can be computed at the state, Leadership Roundtable (LRT), or county level. Measure Groups cover a wide variety of characteristics including those related to the demographics of dependent children, cases that are pre and post-adjudication, the length of supervision, and permanency goals.

 

The selected Measure Group determines the type of data that is displayed in each of the dashboards. In each instance, however, the actual information displayed is based on statistical subcategories, referred to as Measures, which relate to a selected Measure Group.

 

The following represent the Measure Groups available on the dependency dashboards:

Pending Adjudication Inbound

 

The cases that became ready for adjudication during the year. Cases that fall into this category are regarded as being on the ‘Active Inventory’.

 

 
 

 

Pending Adjudication Outbound

 

The cases that became ready for adjudication during the year and then left the ‘Active Inventory’ (see Active Inbound) due to adjudication, withdrawal, or some other reason. 

 

 
 

 

Adjudicated Dependent Inbound

 

The cases that were adjudicated and under the court’s supervision at some point during the year. Cases that fall into this category are regarded as being on the ‘Adjudicated Inventory’.

 

 
 

 

Adjudicated Dependent Outbound

 

The cases that left the ‘Adjudicated Inventory’ (see Adjudicated Dependent Inbound) during the year. Cases that fall into this category include those where court supervision was terminated, the case was closed, the petition was withdrawn after the child was adjudicated dependent, etc.

 

 
 

 

Age of the Child

 

Tracks the age of children at the time the court's supervision came to an end.

 

 
 

 

Cases Remaining in Inventory

 

 

The cases that remained open at the end of the year.

 

 
 

 

Gender of the Child

 

Displays separate totals for cases that involve males, females, or where the gender was unreported.

 

 
 

 

Length of Court Supervision

 

The amount of time that all adjudicated cases have been under court supervision.

 

 
 

 

Permanency Plan Goal

 

Cases that reflect the last court-ordered permanency plan goal for the child. Goals are classified by the Office of Children and Families in the Courts (OCFC).

 

 
 

 

Placement of the Child

 

Cases that reflect the current placement type of the child as last ordered by the court. Placement types are classified by the Office of Children and Families in the Courts (OCFC).

 

 
 

 

Race of the Child

 

Groups and displays totals for the race of the child on all countable cases.
