Number of Petitions Awaiting Adjudication at the Beginning of the Year

The cases that began the year as Active because they ended the previous year in an Active status.

Cases that were dismissed by the court prior to adjudication.

Other Outbound

Includes cases where a warrant was issued for the child prior to adjudication, cases that moved to an Adjudicated status but no adjudication of dependency is recorded, cases with an order terminating court supervision that were never adjudicated dependent, cases closed due to statistical cleanup, and cases closed prior to adjudication with no measurable explanation.

Transferred

Cases that were transferred to another county prior to adjudication.

Withdrawn

Cases that were withdrawn by the petitioner prior to adjudication.

*Hearing officers are appointed by a judge to hear dependency cases on their behalf. Hearing officers cannot issue orders, but can make recommendations to the judge.

Cases where the child is to be placed with a permanent legal custodian. The custodian has not adopted the child, but has the legal authority to make decisions on their behalf.
