Court Administrator of Pennsylvania Named to National Office

Zygmont Pines, court administrator of Pennsylvania, has been named president of the Conference of State Court Administrators and vice chair of the National Center for State Courts board of directors.

The conference includes the top judicial administrators in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa. The National Center is a nonprofit resource and information clearinghouse dedicated to promoting quality operating standards and increasing public trust and confidence in the justice system.

Pines was appointed Court Administrator of Pennsylvania in 2000, and prior to that he served as chief legal counsel for the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts from 1991-99.  He served as chief counsel to the Pennsylvania Governor’s Commission on Judicial Reform and he has authored several publications on criminal justice, appellate procedures, ethics and court security. He was a member of the Centers for Disease Control/U.S. Justice Department Task Force on Public Health and Emergency Preparedness and is a member of the Justice Department’s Criminal Justice Information Services Advisory Board. He is also co-chair of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Elder Law Task Force, the concept for which he originated. Pines received the NCSC’s Warren E. Burger Award for Excellence in Court Administration in 2010.
