Chief Justice of Pennsylvania Ronald D. Castille has issued a statement refuting claims in a new book that the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania acted inappropriately when considering cases relating to the implementation of the Commonwealth Gaming Act.

The chief justice said the conclusions drawn in The Quiet Don regarding court actions are not supported by the facts.

The chief justice said it was important to comment on the inaccuracies because he believed that “facts matter and misinterpretation of facts can be damaging to the trust that is necessary to sustain our court system.”

In his response, the chief justice outlined a summary of court actions, which is public record, and he observed that those actions were consistent with normal court practice.
