Pennsylvania Judiciary Releases New and Improved Interactive Caseload Data

News Article

June 08, 2018

Pennsylvania’s judiciary today unveiled six new data dashboards, the latest in a series of interactive, web-based data visuals that allow the public, court staff, reporters and researchers to quickly analyze and interpret caseload data.

In addition to creating new dashboards, the existing dashboard homepage has a new look to make it easier to navigate and find statistics such as financial detail. Caseload data include civil, criminal, magisterial district court, orphans’ court, custody and divorce, child dependency, paternity and support, juvenile delinquency, problem-solving courts and protection from abuse statistics.

Dashboards have lots of visual power and have proven to be valuable resources – helping judges and court staff make decisions about court operations all while keeping Pennsylvanians informed.

The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts has published annual caseload statistics for years, as a way to allow access for a broader audience, and continue to position the Pennsylvania judiciary as a national leader in providing access to data and court transparency.

Caseload data are available statewide and at the county level, typically by year. In many cases, users can compare data for five years or more. Financial dashboards highlight money collected, where the money goes and how quickly court fines, fees and costs are paid.

Dashboard data are presented through both static and interactive formats, allowing users to analyze and interpret court statistics at a glance. All of the dashboards are on the judiciary’s website at www.pacourts.us. Go to the Research and Statistics page and click on “Interactive Data Dashboards.”
