Bar Admission Ceremonies

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania conducts optional ceremonies for newly-admitted attorneys. Attendance is not required and you are asked to register for a ceremony only if you reasonably intend to attend. The recitation of the oath at these events is entirely ceremonial and will not result in your admission to the bar. In order to be admitted, you must submit your completed application to:

Supreme Court Prothonotary’s Office
414 Grant Street, Suite 801
Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

For additional information, carefully review the instructions that were provided with your bar admission application.

Guests are welcome, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Depending on other events in the building, proceeding through security and reaching the courtrooms may take anywhere from 15 – 30 minutes and we ask candidates to arrive to the courtroom no later than 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.
