(Protection from Abuse)**

Protection from Abuse Order is for those people who are subject to abuse by a household member, family member or intimate partner of the plaintiff.

Protection of Victims of Sexual Violence and/or Intimidation Order can be issued against a non-family member or even a complete stranger. (If you are filing a Petition for Protection from Sexual Violence and/or Intimidation, not the emergency petition, you must also submit the cover sheet for common pleas civil filings which is listed as on the forms for the public page.)

The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence has an informational video called "Protection Orders Do Work: How to Obtain a Civil Protection Order." Perry/Juniata County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Kathy A. Morrow narrates the English version of the video and Philadelphia County Common Pleas Judge Teresa Sarmina narrates the Spanish version. The videos explain how to obtain a civil protection order.

NOTE: During regular court hours, questions may be directed to the Prothonotary. If the court is unavailable (i.e. after hours, weekends, holidays), direct questions to law enforcement for information on the judge on call.

*Landlord/Tenant and Expungement Forms: The translation of these documents into the twelve most commonly encountered languages in the Pennsylvania court system was made possible through a grant from the State Justice Institute, Translation Implementation Project 21T018.

**Protection From Abuse Forms: The translation of these documents mandated by Rule 1905 of the Rules of Civil Procedure under the Protection from Abuse Act, 23 Pa. C.S.A. §6101 et. seq., into the eleven most commonly encountered languages in the Pennsylvania court system was possible through a grant from the Stop Violence Against Women program, which operates under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The AOPC Interpreter Certification Program managed the project. The AOPC acknowledges the contribution of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, which contributed the final order forms they had previously translated and allowed their modification into standard format and served as the model for statewide use.

The Protection from Abuse forms were amended effective April 10, 2019.
