Description
This professional position is responsible for directing the financial operations of the court. This position plans, directs, and administers the budget, financial, and other administrative matters affecting all program matters. The work is performed under the general direction of the District Court Administrator and the Judges’ Budget Committee.
Primary Duties
- Prepares, manages, and implements the court’s budget throughout the year.
- Recommends and allocates to accounts once the budget is approved.
- Represents the court at budget hearings, negotiations, and problem-solving sessions.
- Oversees all financial transactions, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, payments, credits, and refund transactions.
- Gathers data and prepares grant proposals.
- Supervises a fiscal assistant who maintains financial records and prepares reports.
- Acts as a liaison between the court and various county offices, including Controller, Finance, Treasurer, and Purchasing departments, concerning budget and financial transactions.
- Analyzes proposed programs, policies, and legislation for budget impact.
- Coordinates facilities management and equipment maintenance. Assists in planning & designing facility improvements.
- Acts as liaison between the court and information services vendors and coordinates services with the County IT department.
- Assists in compiling and submitting statistical & financial reports to AOPC and numerous grantor agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration or a closely related field; PLUS
- Three years of experience in office management or professional-level experience in finance and budgeting.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
Additional Requirements/Preferences
- Strong analytical, financial, computer, and administrative skills are required.
- Familiarity with grant writing, reporting, government protocols, and the criminal justice system is preferred.
- The ability to work effectively with all levels of individuals within and outside the organization is required.
- A satisfactory criminal background check is required.
