Description

Under the guidance of the director of the Office of Elder Justice in the Courts and the analyst supervisor, the OEJC’s Trainer develops in-person educational programs, curricula, educational materials, and video modules that are part of an initiative to promote best practices in the areas of guardianship, elder abuse, neglect, and access to justice. This position trains court-appointed guardians, attorneys, judges, and other groups on guardianship topics consistent with Pennsylvania law and national standards. *This position is grant-funded and will end in August 2025.*

Primary Duties

  • Develops in-person educational programs, trainings, curricula, and related materials on guardianship topics, alternatives to guardianship, elder abuse, and access to justice consistent with Pennsylvania law and nationally recognized best practices.
  • Creates educational videos and related materials on a variety of guardianship-related topics for multiple audiences, including attorneys, judges, and court-appointed guardians.
  • Creates educational materials and programs for bar associations, nursing home associations, medical facilities, health care providers, trade associations, and others.
  • Collaborates with elder justice partners and others to develop educational programs and materials for their audiences about guardianship, alternatives to guardianship, elder abuse, and access to justice.
  • Delivers educational programs across Pennsylvania and nationally.
  • Works with the Administrative Office of PA courts staff, the Advisory Council on Elder Justice in the Courts, regional collaboration groups, and community volunteers to develop trainings and video modules.
  • Leads the planning and hosting of a statewide guardianship summit.
  • Conducts trainings for court employees and other elder justice-related entities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND
  • Two years experience in developing trainings and educational programs curricula, and in presenting educational programs and trainings.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and / or training may be considered.

Additional Requirements/Preferences

  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
  • Occasional travel, including overnight required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with guardianship and legal terminology preferred.
