September 04, 2025
Pa. Supreme Court Justice Kevin Brobson today joined Wyoming/Sullivan Counties’ President Judge Russell D. Shurtleff and other dignitaries to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the counties’ Treatment Court.
Wyoming/Sullivan Counties’ Treatment Court was established in October 2007. Today’s graduates join the ranks of 130 successful graduates since the program’s inception.
“For 18 years, the Wyoming/Sullivan Counties’ Treatment Court has offered hope, accountability and a path forward for individuals struggling with substance use,” said Justice Brobson. “Today’s graduates are proof that with support and determination, people can overcome great challenges and build stronger futures for themselves and their families. I commend President Judge Shurtleff, the dedicated court staff and community partners whose commitment makes these success stories possible.”
“The Treatment Court team is very proud of the graduates for all of their accomplishments,” said President Judge Shurtleff. “In their sobriety, they have created an enormous impact for their families and this community.”
There are currently more than 137 treatment court programs in Pennsylvania – including Veterans Courts, Mental Health Courts, Adult Drug Courts, Family Drug Courts, DUI Courts, Re-Entry Drug Court, Juvenile Drug Courts and Adult Drug/DUI Hybrid Courts. The purpose of these treatment courts is to reduce recidivism and help individuals return to their jobs and families and become productive citizens.
