News Article

November 10, 2025

President Judge Travis Livengood oversaw a ceremony celebrating the graduation of the first participant from Bedford County Treatment Court at the Bedford County Courthouse.

“It’s a privilege to celebrate this milestone day and witness the first of many success stories as we continue building a program that changes lives,” said President Judge Livengood.

“Seeing our first participant reach graduation shows the power of accountability, support, and community working together. I also want to recognize and thank our Treatment Court team for their hard work, commitment, and the support they provide every day.”

Established in 2024, Bedford County’s Treatment Court seeks to enhance public safety and community well-being by providing intensive supervision, treatment, and community-based supports to offenders with mental illness and/or substance use disorder. The program brings together multidisciplinary teams including criminal justice and social service professionals, treatment and service providers, and peers to support participants in achieving long-term wellness.

There are currently more than 137 treatment court programs in Pennsylvania – including Veterans Courts, Mental Health Courts, Adult Drug Courts, Family Drug Courts, DUI Courts, Re-Entry Drug Court, Juvenile Drug Courts, and Adult Drug/DUI Hybrid Courts. Treatment courts greatly benefit participants, their families, and the community. These cost-effective programs enhance public safety, reduce recidivism, and strengthen communities by helping individuals return to their jobs and families and become productive citizens.
