Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts Advises of Reported Phone Scam
March 27, 2026
Pennsylvania’s Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC) is advising the public to stay vigilant against a recently reported phone scam.
The scam involves calls that “spoof” or mimic court telephone numbers. During the spoof call, those being targeted are told that they have missed jury service, a warrant has been issued for their arrest, and they have unpaid court fines and outstanding fees. The caller threatens to send law enforcement to place the individual under arrest, if they do not immediately pay the court fines and fees. The caller also asserts that there is a fictitious gag order attached to the warrant, preventing the targeted individual from reporting the issue to authorities.
The Pennsylvania Courts will never place calls soliciting payments by credit card, gift card, or any other means of electronic funds transfer for any reason.
Should you receive a phone call claiming to be involved with or calling from the Pennsylvania Courts, please do not provide any sensitive information or forms of payment of any kind.
Anyone receiving calls of this nature is encouraged to hang up immediately and contact state and/or local police as well as the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection at (800) 441-2555 or scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
