Chief Justice Castille to Appear on PCN

December 17, 2013
Chief Justice of Pennsylvania Ronald D. Castille is scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. Monday on PCN-TV to discuss his goals for 2014 — his last year on the bench.
The 30-minute, pretaped broadcast is part of the cable network’s “On The Issues” program, a regularly scheduled series of interviews with state lawmakers and others who influence public policy. Episodes re-air on Sundays.
Pennsylvania voters retained the chief justice for another 10-year term on the Supreme Court during the November general election. However, he must retire at the end of next year because Pennsylvania has a mandatory retirement age of 70 on full-time jurists.
The chief justice is expected to explain what he hopes to accomplish with his remaining time on the bench. The seven-member Supreme Court, which the chief justice leads, is the highest legal authority in the state, and — in a separate role — supervises and oversees the operations of the state court system.
