HARRISBURG, December 3, 2009 - The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania today relieved Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Toole of all judicial and administrative responsibilities and barred him from taking further action in any case or legal proceeding. The Court's action comes one day after Judge Toole was charged by the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania with defrauding the public of honest service in office and filing a false tax return. Judge Toole has agreed to plead guilty to those charges and to resign from office within 10 days.
