Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Announces Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board Reappointments

HARRISBURG, March 27, 2006 — The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania today announced the reappointments of Gary G. Gentile, Esq., and Smith B. Gephart, Esq., to the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board. Gentile, of Allegheny County, and Gephart, of Dauphin County, both were reappointed to threeyear terms commencing April 1. Gentile also was designated chair, beginning April 1. In addition, Jonathan H. Newman, Esq., was designed vice chair, also commencing April 1. Justice Sandra Schultz Newman did not participate in the vice chair designation. The 16-member Disciplinary Board was created by the Supreme Court in 1972 to consider and investigate the conduct of any person subject to the Pennsylvania Rules of Disciplinary Enforcement. Such persons include any: • attorney admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania • attorney of another jurisdiction specially admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court for a particular proceeding • disbarred, suspended or inactive attorney, with respect to violation of any rules committed prior to disbarment, suspension or transfer to inactivity • justice, judge or magisterial district judge, with respect to any violation of rules committed prior to taking office, if the Judicial Conduct Board declines jurisdiction • attorney who resumes practice of law, with respect to any non-judicial acts.
