Pennsylvania Supreme Court Announces Appointments to Civil Procedural Rules Committee

HARRISBURG, September 26, 2005 — The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania today announced the appointments of Gary A. Rochestie, Esq., and William F. Stewart, Esq., to the Civil Procedural Rules Committee. Both Rochestie, of Bucks County, and Stewart, of Montgomery County were appointed to terms that expire June 30, 2008. The committee was created in 1937 by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to assist in the promulgation and administration of the rules of civil procedure governing civil actions for the Courts of Common Pleas. The work of the committee, which is the oldest of the Supreme Court's committees, covers all aspects of civil practice before the Courts of Common Pleas except those relating to the Orphans' Court and Family Court divisions. The Supreme Court appoints committee members to three-year terms. Each member may serve a maximum of two consecutive full terms. The committee membership consists of 15 lawyers and judges.
