Pennsylvania Supreme Court Appoints Lawyers Fund for Client Security Chair and Vice Chair

HARRISBURG, February 28, 2003 – The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania recently appointed Paul S. Diamond, Esq., as chair and Carl D. Buchholz, III, Esq., as vice chair for the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security. Diamond is a partner with Obermeyer, Rebmann, Maxwell & Hippel, in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Diamond was originally appointed to the board in May 1998, and was reappointed in April 2001. His current term expires in March 2004. Buchholz is a partner with Rawle & Henderson LLP in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and Villanova Law School. Buchholz originally was appointed to the board in April 2000, and recently was reappointed to the board to serve a second three-year term. His current term expires in March 2006. The Fund, established in 1982 by Order of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, seeks to reimburse clients who have lost funds as a result of a misappropriation by their Pennsylvania attorney. The Fund is authorized to repay victims of attorney dishonesty up to a maximum of $75,000 per claimant. Since its inception, the Fund has awarded claims totaling approximately $27 million. The Fund is financed exclusively through an annual assessment on attorneys licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. No public or tax monies are utilized.
