Campaign Spending a Focus - Supreme Court’s Special Campaign Commission Schedules Public Hearings inWilkes-Barre and Erie

PHILADELPHIA, December 1, 1997 - The Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Special Commission to Limit Judicial Campaign Expenditures has scheduled public hearings in Wilkes-Barre and Erie. The commission is charged with studying all facets of the state's judicial campaigns, but the major focus is on determining how to limit expenditures. Announcement of the public hearings was made by Commission Chair James F. Mundy of Philadelphia, immediate past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. The Wilkes-Barre hearing is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 4 in the Commissioners Office on the first floor of the Luzerne County Courthouse at 200 North River St. The Erie hearing is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 11 in Courtroom F of the Erie County Courthouse at 140 West Sixth St. Others serving on the Commission with Mundy are current PBA President Vincent J. Grogan of Pittsburgh; PBA President-Elect Leslie Anne Miller of Philadelphia; and PBA Past Presidents Thomas L. Cooper of Pittsburgh, H. Robert Fiebach of Philadelphia, Arthur L. Piccone of Wilkes-Barre, and Paul L. Stevens of Doylestown.
