Pennsylvania high schooler among national civics essay winners

A McDowell High School student in Erie, Pennsylvania, won second place in the National Center for State Courts’ Civics Education Essay Contest in recognition of Law Day, May 1.
This year’s question commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Miranda Rights.
Students were tasked with writing an essay on the following topic: In your own words, what are the Miranda Rights, and why are they important?
