Philadelphia court offices closing during papal visit to the city
Both city and state court offices are closing temporarily during the upcoming visit by Pope Francis to Philadelphia. Please continue to check this website for updates regarding closures during this period.
Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Office of the Prothonotary, Eastern District, at 468 City Hall, will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 24, Friday, Sept. 25 and Monday, Sept. 28.
The rules of construction of the Statutory Construction Act relating to computation of time (1 Pa. C.S., § 1908) will be followed for any filings due in the Eastern District only during this closure.
If you need to file an emergency, please call either the Western District: (412)-565-2816 or the Middle District: (717)-787-6181 for instructions and further assistance.

Superior Court
The administrative offices of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, including the Office of the Prothonotary for the Eastern District, will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25.
During the closing the provisions of the Statutory Construction Act relating to computation of time (1 Pa.C.S., § 1908) will be followed for any filings due in the Eastern District. Those filings will be due on Monday, Sept. 28.
Eastern District emergency filings seeking relief prior to Sept. 28 will be accepted by the Office of the Prothonotary for the Western District in Pittsburgh. Filers seeking to make an emergency filing should call the Western District office at 412-565-7592 for further instructions.

First Judicial District
The courts and related offices of the First Judicial District, including the Office of Judicial Records and other filing offices; the Juvenile and Adult Probation departments; and the family court children’s waiting area will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 28.
