Self-Guided Orientation

All candidates are required to complete the self-guided orientation. 

Orientations are offered online and are self-paced and must be completed within two (2) weeks. Topics covered in the orientation include interpreting as a profession, Pennsylvania’s judicial system and certification program, ethics and professional development, interpreting skills and modes of interpretation. Upon completion, participants will know what will be required of them in the courtroom and during the oral and written certification exams.

Registration

To register for the Self-Guided Orienation; candidates must have completed the initial registration process (Foreign Language candidates must also have completed and passed their OPI Screening Interview). The Interpreter Certifification Program will provide a link for registration for the online Self-Guided Orienation and the fee of $50 will be paid online to De La Mora Institute of Interpretation.

RID CEUs for Sign Language Interpreters

In partnership with PARID, the Interpreter Certification Program offers RID CMP credits to sign language and deaf interpreters. PARID is approved by the RID CMP to sponsor continuing education activities. This activity is being offered for 1.5 CEUs in Professional Studies. Participants should have some prior knowledge of the topic and must attend both days to qualify for CEUs.
